1. General introduction:
Vietnam is a country of tropical area
with damp and hot climate, as a sunny and rainy area. Thus, the
duties in planning, architecture and construction meet a lot of
problem that need be solved such as: Anti-hot, anti-leak,
anti-moisture, anti-mouldy, problems on climate of external
environment, internal climate of the architecture works.
Institute of Tropical Architecture is
the first special science unit comprehensive researching tropical
climate sectors affect to architectural works in order to propose
reasonable solutions.
Institute of Tropical Architecture is a
center of scientists, architects, engineers of construction,
Vietnamese and international urban engineers, especially, regional
countries cooperate to study and solve the oriented matters for
Vietnam architecture development.
Institute of Tropical architecture is a
state office located in Hanoi Architectural University, has close
relation in training architects, engineers of construction and urban
engineers.
2. Legal basics:
Institue of tropical architecture was
established under the Decree No. 35/HDBT of Ministers Council (today
is Government) dated 28 January 1992 on science and technology
management.
1. Decision No. 358/QD-BXD, dated 05
June 1998 of Minister of Construction on establishment of Institute
of tropical architecture directly under Hanoi Architectural
University.
2. Decosion No. 909 - 1998/QD-BXD, dated
30 September 1998 of Minister of Construction on approving
regulations of organization and operation of Institute of Tropical
architecture directly under Hanoi Architectural University;
3. Certificate of technological science
register No. 598, dated 23 November 1998 of Ministry of sciences,
technology and environment (Today is Ministry of Science and
Technology)
4. Decision No. 2005/QD-BXD, dated 18
December 2001of Ministry of Construction on supplementing functions
and duties of institute of tropical Archietcture directly under
Hanoi Architectural University.
5. Decision No. 180/QD-BXD dated 9
February 2004 of Ministry of Construction on supplementing duties
for Institute of Tropical Architecture of Hanoi Architecture
University.
6. Certificate of technological science
register No. A-212 of Ministry of Science and Technology issed on 19
March 2004.
3. Functions:
- Researching sciences, experiments
supporting for training and application to actual planning,
architecture, construction in the condition of tropical climate.
- Participating in undergraduate and
postgraduate training programs.
- Implementing special training
program in the field of tropical architecture.
4. Duties:
- Studying, laying the basic scientific
and theoretical foundation for the tropical architecture of Viet Nam
- Studying, building and designing the
architectural and constructional solution for each region, each
tropical climate area of Viet Nam
- Studying and building the economic
and technical data bank to advise about tropical architecture in
constructional works proper with Viet Nam and other tropical areas;
- Experimenting and apply the study
results to environmental, technical, constructional and
architectural works;
- Informing and disseminating the
study, experiment and application results to serve for the training
task of the University and productive reality;
- Advise and survey the design of
architecture and constructional planning;
- Making services: Advising, surveying
and training about the environmental and microclimate fields;
Measuring, verifying and evaluating the environmental effects and
the quality of constructional materials proper with conditions of
tropical climate;
- Cooperating with organizations
inside and outside the country in studying, experimenting and
applying the above fields.

- Make financial task, archives,

with the accounting mechanism of Institute, ensure the accounting

construction and investment
- Manage the planning task: Help the
centres to trade in and sign the contract with customers; make the
planning for task; report to the Excecutive board of the Institute;
sign the internal contract with basic units, collaborators; help the
Director of Insitute to hold the method exam if nessesary; supervise
and urge the plan making of the Units; make planning and proposal
procedure in the Institute; hold the material storing task; make
procedure of handing over the designing documents for customers.
- Manage technique: hold the quality
examination of designing document; help the Head of works to handle
the appearing issues about technical aspect during the executing
process, technical checking and taking over the buildings; prepare
related documents; designing changes; forecast and report to the
Head of Institute
- Auditing task: making the clue of
holding the work assessment for constructional consultant
- Other tasks: manage and store
technical data bank; constantly supply new promulgated legal
documents, designing standard, guide norm; designing materials.
