-   Faculty of Rural and Urban Planning was established in 1992 on the basic of the Faculty of Urban Architect and Planning section of Faculty of Architecture

-   The Faculty’s mandates are clearly defined in the Decision 598 /QĐ/ ĐHKT- TH dated 20th April, 2006 of the Rector of Hanoi Architectural University.

-   Faculty of Rural and Urban Planning co-ordinates with faculties and departments of the University to complete successfully the requirements of training for engineering architects, constructional engineers, urban engineers as well as cash course, in-service at the University and training centers outside the University.     

-   The Faculty has accepted made condition for graduate students and postgraduates to participate in scientific activities and teaching at the Faculty and Departments with significant results. Many lecturers of the Faculty have been teaching and supervising thesis for graduate students and postgraduates on the fields of urban planning and management. 

-   The Faculty is directly in charge of and takes part in many scientific research at national, sector and grassroots levels with high quality; completely compiling varieties of curriculums of the University; Associating with some foreign universities to organize international seminars, participating in scientific seminars, writing many special scientific essays with great quality published on domestic and foreign specialty magazines.       

-   The Faculty has contributed effectively on product quantity and specialized quality into the reality of socio-manufacture and labour. Lecturers of the Faculty have directly in charge and designed many projects of regional planning, rural and urban planning and detail planning of functional areas, specialties and designed many architectural projects for Ha Noi and provinces over the country.

-   The Faculty has participated and obtained many achievements in social activities, supporting for victims from disasters, building educational statue....Especially, completing successfully all the tasks of Ministry of Construction and University assigned in 135-program (property alleviation for rural areas), finishing project of Ma Cai center planning (then, upgrading into project of Si Ma Cai District Capital) and designing High School for Minh Luong commune.

-   The Faculty has also participated in Contests for Planning Architecture Design, in which, 01 student awarded the First prize of International Contest at Summer Design Workshop-Cergy Pontoise - Republic of France. A group of young teachers participated and obtained the Second prize in the contest "Planning thought and urban designing on the two branches of Lach Tray River.

1. What we do:

-   Training architects of planning specialty with fully capacity to design project of Rural-Urban planning. 

-   Organizing scientific research activities for teachers and students

-   Cooperating in post graduate program for Masters and Doctors of Rural and Urban planning specialty.

-   Constructional consultancy

-   Cooperating with relevant local and international organizations in related fields.

 2. Degrees and qualifications

-   Architects of Rural and Urban planning: a 5 year program with 247 modular credits covering 3 major groups of modules: 18 foundation modules, 20 professional fundamental modules, 34 specialization modules and graduation thesis.

4. Staff and lecturers:

-     At present, the Faculty has 35 lecturers, 1 Associate Professor, 5 Doctors, 18 Masters. They are all devoting time and efforts for over 800 undergraduates.

-   The Faculty's staff will be 65 people by 2010. Faculty Office has assistants (who are also teachers) responsible for supporting the Dean of the Faculty on training, student administration and 3 other secretaries.
