- Faculty
of Urban Management was establish according Decision No. 1583 dated
20 June 2005 of Rector of Hanoi Architectural University on the
foundation of Urban Management Center (2001), it was Center of
International Training before (1996)
- The Faculty’s mandates are clearly
defined in the Decision on approval of development and construction
project of the Faculty of Urban Management No. 599 /QĐ/ ĐHKT- TH
dated 20 April 2006 of Rector of Hanoi Architectural University.
1. What we do:
- Higher
training in specialty of Urban Management
- Higher training in specialties of
Architecture, Planning, Construction, Infrastructure Techniques and
Urban Environment.
- Training in postgraduate
specializations
- Participating in scientific research
technological transfer activities
- Cooperating with relevant local and
international organizations
2. Degrees and qualifications:
- Engineer
of Urban Management: a 5 year program with 260 modular credits
covering 3 major groups of modules: 18 foundation modules, 20
professional fundamental modules, 30 specialization modules and
graduation thesis.

Professors, Doctors, experts are working at Hanoi Architectural

Government Office, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment,
Ministry of Finance, Vietnam Association of Urban Development and
Planning, Vietnam Association of Architects, Vietnam Association of
Cities.

4. Staff and Lecturers:
- The
Faculty has numbered 43 teachers of whom 4 are associate Professors,
5 Doctors, 15 Masters, 23 Engineers and BA. They are all devoting
time and efforts for over 700 undergraduates.
- 60 people will be found by 2010 in
the Faculty’s staff. The faculty office consists of assistants (who
are also teachers) responsible for supporting the Dean on training
and student administration and 2 other secretaries.
- At present, the Faculty has numbered
20 teachers of whom 3 are Associate Professors, 4 Doctors, 7 MSc.
- Lecturer staff of the Faculty will
be 22 people by 2010. Faculty office consists of assistants (who are
also teachers) responsible for supporting the Dean of Faculty on
training, student administration and 1 secretary.
5. Some activities of
International Training Center and Center of Urban
Management.
- Cooperating
and organizing training with HIS Academy(Holland) and ICURP
(Poland), the two training courses of Urban Planning and Management
at Hanoi Architectural University
- Cooperating and organizing training
with HIS Academy (Holland) 1 training course of Urban Planning and
management in Holland and Hanoi Architectural University.
- Cooperating and organizing training
with University of British - Columbia, Canada and Hanoi Department
of Planning and Investment also organizes 3 training courses and 10
seminars in the framework of VIE/95/050 project in Hanoi.
- Cooperating and organizing training
with Foreign Department of Vinh city and Belgian Consortium
(Belgium) in Vinh - Nghe An.
- In the framework of project of Urban
management in Viet Nam, cooperating with the University of Montreal
- Canada, Center of Urban Management has implemented some activities
as following:
Organizing
training courses and seminars on fields of Urban planning and
management, Infrastructure management and Urban Environment,
Management and development of house market, Community's
participation in Urban planning and management.... in Ho Chi Minh
city, Phu Yen, Da Nang, Hue, Vung Tau, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh....
Organizing an International seminar in Phnompenh - Cambodia in March
2002 with topic: "Management of Urban Technology and
Infrastructure", with the participation of specialists from Vietnam,
Canada, Laos, Cambodia and many other countries.
Sending
lecturers, specialists and teachers to visit, learn for experiences
of Urban management in Canada.
6. Achievements:
- Training
108 masters majoring in Urban management with the trainees coming
from many areas on the country such as: Vinh Long, Gia Lai, Vung
Tau, Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang, Quang Binh, Nghe An and Ha Noi,
especially, there are 4 trainees from Laos. Today, Faculty of
Post-graduate enjoys technology, training program and enrolls the
9th course of Urban management specialty.
- Organizing many training courses of
Urban management for the leaders of (Provinces, Cities, Precincts
and Communes), cadres who are working in Departments, Branches at
localities such as: Gia Lai, Nam Dinh, Hue, Vung Tau, Vinh - Nghe
An, Da Lat...
- Editing and publishing the book
"Hanoi Thousand-Year History", 2002
- Editing and publishing Scientific
Information Review - Theme of Urban management research of Hanoi
city in 2004.
- Compiling and publishing many
curriculums for master training of Urban management specialty.
- Being offered Diploma of Merit by
Ministry of Construction for Successful Planning Completion of the
Year 2000, 2001 and 2005.
- Ministry of Construction recognizes
the title of Excellent Labour Team in 2005.
